Port of Olympia New Administrative Building I Olympia, Washington

KMB provided planning and design services for site development and an office building proposed for a new Port of Olympia administrative campus. Site design worked to further promote the existing Port master plan by providing a link from the Olympia Farmer’s Market to adjacent waterfront boardwalk. KMB developed and presented numerous site plan options to assist the Port in achieving optimum utilization of the site. Sustainable features, such as use of reclaimed water and pervious pavements, were incorporated into each site plan option.

KMB worked with Port staff to design a three-story office building that would replace the Port’s existing aging and temporary modular office facilities, locate Port staff in one building, and emphasize shared use facilities and collaboration between departments. Ground level features of the proposed office building included public meeting room, conferencing capabilities, cafe, and leasable office space. Square footage and adjacency requirements for all building spaces were programmed by KMB, followed by conceptual floor plans, elevation drawings and a series of 3-D presentation graphics to illustrate the future finished appearance of the site with alternative building configurations. KMB planning services also included development of comprehensive construction cost estimates and a master project schedule.
